William Hartnell – 100 years old today

Hello Blog,

William Hartnell, the first actor to play the role of the Doctor in Doctor Who, from 1963 to 1966 (and in 1972/3, in The Three Doctors), would have been 100 today. There is a tribute to him at the Doctor Who News Page.

I’ve been relistening to old Hartnell stories lately (The Dalek Masterplan, The War Machines, The Ark, The Tenth Planet). It reminded me of how nuanced his performance could be. His Doctor was dangerous, unpredictable, and just a little inhuman.

I miss you, William!
